Completed Lectures: Adam Smith Tercentenary Memorial Lecture Series

The series has thus far included three lectures. The inaugural speaker was Professor Dr. Azizur Rahman Khan from UCR, who presented an essay titled “Adam Smith’s Theory of Growth and Today’s Development Policies.”

The second Adam Smith Memorial Lecture featured Professor Dr. Achin Chakraborty, Director of the Institute of Development Studies in Kolkata, India. His lecture was entitled “Market Skeptic Adam Smith and the Contemporary World.” Both of these lectures took place in February 2023.

The most recent lecture was delivered by Birupaksha Paul, PhD, a professor from the Department of Economics at the State University of New York in Cortland, NY 13045, USA. On May 7, 2023. He presented on the topic of “Adam Smith’s Free Market: Absence of Competition and Ethics in Bangladesh’s Policymaking.” All of these lectures were conducted in person.

Additionally, ​a lecture was held in November 2022 to gauge audience response. The lecture was delivered by Professor Salim Rashid from Illinois University.
