Yes — research, content, media, and tech roles are fully remote. Event roles may include occasional in-person components.
Yes — all volunteers receive a Certificate of Volunteering and Community Engagement. After 1 year of sustained commitment, BPF certifies and personally vouches for you.
No — beginners are welcome. We provide onboarding and mentorship for every role.
Our team reviews your application and reaches out for a short conversation to understand your interests and match you to the right team.
Yes — many volunteers contribute across multiple tracks (for example, research and media) based on their interests and availability.
Volunteers should generally be 16 or older. Younger applicants may be considered for specific roles on a case-by-case basis.
Yes — just let your team lead know in advance. We understand schedules change and try to be flexible.
No — volunteering with BPF is unpaid. Instead, volunteers who meet the participation criteria receive an official Certificate of Volunteering and Community Engagement (and BPF's certification and endorsement after 1 year of sustained commitment).
No — any approved expenses incurred while volunteering for BPF are covered or reimbursed by BPF. Volunteers should not be out of pocket for work done on behalf of the organization.
